GreenStep's LEED® Professional
Project Experience Program, in partnership with Green-Buildings.com,
provides LEED AP exam candidates with an opportunity to actively
work on a LEED registered project, thus qualifying participants
to take the LEED AP exam while gaining real-world, hands-on experience.
This program is designed for the professional who is looking
to go beyond the basics to gain a deeper understanding of the
unique processes involved with managing a LEED project. Through
this hands-on program working on a LEED Registered Project, aspiring
LEED APs will not only develop a thorough understanding of the
various phases of a LEED certification project, but also gain
the specific knowledge, tools and skills necessary to help them
pass the LEED AP exam. |

CE Credits: |
GBCI CMP: Earn 10 CEUs (5 LEED-specific and 5 LEED non-specific)
for participation in the Program. |

Length of Program: |
4 Weeks. The program sessions take place once
per week over 4 weeks from 6:00pm to 7:30pm Pacific Standard
Time via web conferencing. |

| Program Background: |
Any candidate wishing to take the LEED AP with
Specialty exam must have previous experience with a LEED Registered
Project within three years of qualifying for the exam. |

This experience must be documented in the form
of a letter of attestation from a supervisor,client or project
manager and describe the candidate's involvement in the project.
The candidate's experience must have occurred within three (3)
years of the date of the application with the GBCI. In order
to qualify to take the LEED Green Associate Exam, LEED project
experience is not required. |

| Program
Objectives: |
By participating in this unique four (4) week
program, LEED AP candidates will learn by doing. Each team member
will get involved with LEED Online, learn the tools and systems
involved with tracking specific credits and responsibilities
and contribute in a material way to the various project requirements
which may include, but not be limited to: |

* Performing credit calculations
* Analyzing energy model reports
* Evaluating credit costs
* Trouble shooting potential setbacks
* Reviewing documentation for compliance
* Drafting Credit Interpretation Requests (CIR) |

Finally, participants will gain the practical
knowledge necessary to make an immediate impact at a green building
or sustainable design firm, giving them the confidence to guide
projects to LEED certification and beyond. |

| Methods of Instruction: |
This program will be administered by employing
various online communication methods including virtual meeting,
email and/or chat. The program utilizes an actual LEED Registered
Project. Participants will engage in discussions, work through
problems, accomplish various tasks, assist in the documentation
process, complete take-home assignments and provide feedback. |

| Our Guaranty: |
GreenStep stands behind its program 100%. Upon
successful completion of the GreenStep Professional Project Experience
Program, team members will receive a Letter of Attestation from
GreenStep to submit to GBCI as part of the LEED exam application
process. If your Letter of Attestation from GreenStep is not
accepted by GBCI, the original purchase price of the program
will be refunded. Each and every program participant
that has applied for the LEED AP with specialty exam to date
has had his
or her exam application approved by GBCI, including those that
were randomly selected for audit. |

About the Instructor
and Project Leader: |
Alex Spilger is Principal and Founder of GreenStep
and has worked on over 40 diverse LEED projects and taught over
70 green building workshops through organizations such as local
chapters of the US Green Building Council (USGBC) and American
Institute of Architects (AIA), the Sustainable Building Advisors
Program and the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business among others.
He has also developed curriculum for UC Berkeley Extension where
he teaches a 6-week LEED Project Management course. His experience
includes facilitating eco-charrettes, researching green building
technologies and policy, and managing both the people and the
processes involved with taking projects through LEED Certification. |

| Alex is an active member of the Northern California
Chapter of the USGBC and serves on the USGBC Corresponding Committee
for LEED-EBOM. He is also founding board member of GreenLaces.org,
a non-profit committed to leveraging the visibility and influence
of athletics to create positive change for the planet. Alex is
a LEED Accredited Professional with specialties in BD+C, ID+C & EBOM,
a USGBC NCC Faculty member, a Certified Green Building Professional,
an AIA Continuing Education Provider, HERS Rater and holds a
B.S. in Civil Engineering from UCLA. |
