Lighting the Way

Lighting the Way

In this one-hour course, you will review a brief history of lighting up to the development of light emitting diodes (LEDs). LEDs will be compared to traditional lighting sources, including the characteristics unique to LED lighting and how LEDs contribute to electrical energy efficiencies and a cleaner environment. New LED lighting applications and a virtual computerized visualization control system will be examined and applied to the architectural environment.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Discuss the history of lighting and the evolution of light emitting diodes (LEDs)
  2. Identify the unique characteristics and advantages of using sustainable LED lighting compared to other light sources
  3. Explain how LED lighting can increase energy efficiency, reduce the release of harmful toxins into the environment, and contribute to LEED credits
  4. Describe efficient LED lighting applications and computerized visualization lighting controls that can enhance buildings, landscapes, and public spaces
