Keep Glass Looking Beautiful and Reduce Maintenance Costs with a Protective Coating

Keep Glass Looking Beautiful and Reduce Maintenance Costs with a Protective Coating

Tuesday, May 12, 2020 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm EDT

In this one hour course, we will evaluate low maintenance protective coatings as a solution for many common problems encountered during the life-cycle of building. Some of the easily recognized benefits of an easy to clean coating include a decrease in environmental damage to exterior glazing, significant reduction in building maintenance, improved photo-voltaic performance, and enhancement of the forward. Additionally, we will explore a variety of applications, from shower enclosures to exterior glazing, while simultaneously explaining the operational, environmental and inherent benefits to this technology. The course will conclude with an evaluation of how protective coating can help the building achieve LEED v4 certification.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe the environmental benefits of protective coatings
  2. List the operational impacts for building exteriors treated with low maintenance protective coatings.
  3. Asses how the use of protective coatings can contribute to LEED v4 BD+C credits.
  4. Identify problems resulting from environmental damage to glazing.
