Participants will learn what to look for when designing, evaluating, and documenting accessible paths, including sidewalks, ramps, corridors, and building entrances. The course emphasizes practical strategies for ensuring code compliance, identifying common design challenges, and implementing solutions that promote usability, inclusivity, and ease of navigation for all building users.
- Explain how ADA requirements specifically apply to accessible routes, highlighting their critical role in enabling independent and equitable access for all building users.
- Analyze and evaluate paths of travel, identifying potential barriers and applying design strategies that create seamless, navigable, and inclusive circulation throughout a building or site.
- Define accessible routes in detail, including ramps, corridors, entrances, and other key elements, and understand how these components contribute to overall functionality and user experience.
